Thanksgiving in Plymouth

Mayflower Adventures

On Thanksgiving Day, we began our journey into the past by boarding the Mayflower in Plymouth, MA. Here our group consisted of John, Susan, Brian, the Garrisons (Anthony, Becca, Tom, Jonas, Mercer, and Jude), Pappap and me.

Here we learned that 102 people braved the waters in a crowded ship. We were surprised at see how small the boat was, and it was hard to imagine all those people trying to sleep, to eat, and to do whatever for 65 days. Once we were done with the boat, everyone disembarked and headed to Plymouth Rock.

FYI-we learned that this rock was not mentioned by the pilgrims themselves; however, it was recorded by one of their grandchild that many of the original pilgrims had stepped on this boulder.

More to come...

  1. Looks like the Van Leeuwens will have to try and hit Boston during the Thanksgiving holidays. Thanks for sharing! Looks like good times!
